New Year, and Spring on the way.

Not so much happening on the gardening front at the moment. Some All the Year Round caulis have germinated in the plastic greenhouse, but no sign yet of the Basil Dark Opal I sowed on the same day. I got some Pimento pepper seeds from an online chum (thanks bluemoon), and I have placed these between layers of damp tissue paper to sprout, but nothing yet. Not too worried though cos some varieties of pepper and chilli can take a while to germinate.
Alpine strawberries have germinated and I now have the teeniest little seedlings. Will just leave them alone until they are big enough to pot on individually.
Ground too wet to do any digging at the moment, which is a bugger because I have SO much to do!!
On the plus side, have started harvesting mt Lyon Prizetaker leeks. They are not huge, but taste fab. Now looking for recipes that require them.

Chickens - pootling along quite happily, and have acquired 5 more ex-bats from a fellow plotholder. No real nasty scraps so far. Mine were out and roaming when the new girls arrived so we just let them out with the others. My girls went back in when I called them, but the new girls led me a merry chase when I tried to catch them! Going to keep them in the run and shed for a week or so before they come out to roam. Want them tame enough to come back when I call.
Having difficulty uploading pics, will do it another time.
